Amotech Africa had reached the point every growing distributor eventually hits: the legacy systems that once worked well enough were now the thing slowing everything else down. SAP had a reputation to match its capability, but also a cost and complexity that did not scale comfortably with a mid sized African business. The question Amotech kept coming back to was simple. Did they need everything SAP offered, or did they need a system built for how they actually operated?
That question led them to ERPNext. Working with Navari, Amotech evaluated ERPNext against SAP and a handful of other options on the criteria that mattered most in practice: total cost of ownership, how quickly the team could actually get productive on it, and how easily it could be shaped around local tax rules and processes rather than the other way around.
